Northwest Arkansas has quickly become one of my favorite places to explore. Thorncrown Chapel had been on my list to visit since before the move from Texas, so I’m glad finally had a chance to head that way recently.
I definitely spent more time being awed by the space than taking photos of it.
During my December travels, I had the opportunity to stop by the “wrong way” cemetery in Rayne, Louisiana for a little gloomy morning wandering.
Unlike every other Christian cemetery in the country, the graves face north-south, rather than east-west. As if that wasn’t fascinating enough, it was also my first experience with above-ground crypts. #spooky
As much as I love a fully planned, adventure filled trip, it’s nice to have some time to do nothing. Part of the birthday trip shenanigans included time for Air Bnb breakfast, plus time to shoot with Elizabeth (because of course) and it couldn’t have been a nicer morning if we tried.
Having a late December birthday is the best because I get a few extra days to settle into my newest self before the year begins. 2020, and more importantly 28, looks like taking up space, choosing to swim instead of sink, and being more tired, but never more true of heart.
In what will be a shocking turn of events for no one, Cadillac Ranch made the list for yet another hometown tour with a couple of humans I love. Somehow I convinced two more rowdy babes to make the trek to Amarillo with me for a weekend, and many shenanigans ensued (as expected), including this stylish pilgrimage.
I read something the other day about how the average person moves 11.7 times in their life. That sounds like a lot, but is pretty accurate based on my own life. Thanks to the size of Texas, I can’t even say that moving states has been the longest distance move I’ve made.
There's nothing quite like finding a gem in a pawn shop. I spotted this Seagull one day while on the hunt for a new 35mm and was immediately fascinated by it. I'm already a sucker for a TLR, but I especially can't resist one I've never encountered before.
Lucky for me, Hutch snagged it later (for much cheaper than it should have been. Score.) and brought it home as a half birthday gift. The mechanics remind me of a large format camera, and it has a mask that allows you to shoot either 6x6 or 6x4.5 *major heart eyes*.
In my typical fashion, it took WAY too long to get the film developed. I'm just glad to see it works, no matter how weirdly I messed up the first roll. That's what happens when you count exposures incorrectly and don't discover the mask situation until after you finish the roll. Whoops.
