local: Sun Adventure Sports

Living in a small town means that typically, there isn’t more than one or two of anything. Sun Adventure Sports is one of two (and a half-ish) bike shops here in town. This year, they’ve gotten a new owner and done a bunch of sprucing up in the shop, so they needed some new images for their website - that’s where I come in! All the guys are super nice, and I had a good time wandering around taking some initial shots. I’m definitely looking forward to more serious shooting with the crew, and seeing their website come together over the next few months.

lately: Pastel Improvements

As if we couldn’t be more 70s, our house now boasts a pink front door, and tie dye sheets have returned to the bedroom.

I’ve been plotting what color to paint our front door since we moved into the house 6 (!) months ago. It took a lot of back and forth, but we finally settled on a color. Lesson learned: suggest the same color as one of Hutch’s disc golf discs and he’ll instantly agree.

In other news, ice dying is the coolest/easiest/my new favorite thing. The pillowcases and shirts turned out spectacular, but (like a dummy) I threw the sheets in the dryer before they were totally set, so they’re just a nice shade of not tie dyed periwinkle. Now I just need about 12873 more things to dye and I’ll be set.

tourist: PDC Trading Post

I don’t know how people exist without National/State Parks in close proximity. Or REALLY good burgers, for that matter.

Somehow, I had never been to the Trading Post in Palo Duro Canyon. Needless to say, I grabbed myself some lunch dates and that little issue was promptly fixed. In addition to the best assortment of touristy souvenirs, they serve the best burgers and fries. As if I needed any more excuses to head out there on a regular basis…

lately: Holiday in Black and White

Shooting for fun since moving has been such a struggle. I haven't liked any pictures in a while, and I've been inconsistent when it comes to even remembering I own cameras. So, I bought myself a new one to combat all of that nonsense. I never thought I'd be so in love with a digital camera, but to my dismay, here we are.

excursion: Clarendon Camping

Milestone: Pitch an 8 person tent together with no instructions.

Even though the tent was *slightly* large for two people, we finally got to go camping together for the first time and had a great weekend. The weather at the lake was beautiful, and Top of Texas Disc Golf hosted another awesome tournament.

tourist: Las Vegas

For some reason, that I'm sure not mad about, Las Vegas has become an annual mother/daughter trip destination. This year, we went to celebrate mom's birthday in grand style. Billy Idol, Cirque du Soleil, and so much good food.

Last year we learned that walking the entire length of The Strip is possible, but not advisable, and somehow still ended up doing so again this year. I've got my fingers crossed we stay at the Flamingo next year (I'm still obsessed with it), and plan to eat more than just one meal at my new favorite place, Serendipity 3

tourist: Hot Springs

We're only a few months into 2016, but I've already had the chance to travel to quite a few places. Recently, I spent a weekend in Arkansas for the first time - we hit Conway, Glenwood, AND Hot Springs. The weather was perfect, as was the company. Luckily, I've got plenty of reasons to head back there in the future.

senior: Madison

Before Madison even got in touch about taking her senior pictures, I had already begun convincing her to take them at Palo Duro Canyon. I met Madison through Girl Scout camp, and knew she would be right at home in the beautiful, rugged scenery.

We spend several hours down in the canyon, and could have easily spent more. Madison is hands down the most bubbly, passionate person I've ever met. I'm so excited to hear about all of her adventures in college, and see where her dreams take her in the future.

portrait: Kylie

Chicago might be known as the Windy City, but I'm willing to bet they've got nothing on the Panhandle. I met up with Kylie for coffee (of course), and to take some new headshots for her to use this year. We had hoped to take them outside at WTAMU, but the Texas wind had other plans.

senior: Allison

In the past few (more than I would like to admit) years, Allison has gone from one of my campers, to my camp aid, to a co-worker. She's the smartest, craftiest, funniest human, and is generally just the cat's pajamas.

I love that I've gotten to be part of her life lately, and document this time in her life before she runs off to college. Recently, I also had the honor of presenting her with her Gold Award, and seeing her perform in her senior dance recital. Did I mention she does it all?
